Foxconn to move Acer PC assembly to Hungary from the Czech Republic - paper

Taiwan'sFoxconn Technology, is to movetheassemblyofAcer PC'stoHungary from the Czech Republic, HungarianbusinessdailyVilággazdaság reported on Monday.

Foxconn Technology, a manufacturer, researcher, developer andsellerofcomputer, communicationsandconsumer electronic(3C)products,has acquired two plants of Sanmina SCI this year, oneinHungary andone in Mexico.

The paper said the assembly of Acer PCs would take placeattheformer Sanmina plant in Székesfehérvár (60kmwest of Budapest),from where the produce would be shippedtoEuropean markets.

The European Commission cleared Foxconnacquiring the two Sanmina SCI plantsatthe end of June thisyear.

The paper said the motivations of the relocation are notyetknown.Hungary is not new to the computer assembly business, asithasbeen engaged in the assembly of IBM, Lenovo and CompaqPCsbefore.

Foxconn Technology Group has over 200,000 employeeswordwide,withoperations strategically situated across Americas,Europe andAsia.
