Electronica 2008 CEO Roundtable Focuses onClimateProtection

The CEOroundtableatElectronica 2008which willfocuson "Thecontribution of the semiconductor industrytoclimateprotection."

FiveprominentsemiconductorindustryCEOs--Peter BauerfromInfineon Technologies, Brian L.Halla fromNational Semiconductor,CarloBozottifromSTMicroelectronics, Rich Beyer fromFreescaleSemiconductor andDr.Ruediger Mueller, president and CEOofOsramOptoSemiconductors--will describe theircompanies'contributionstoclimate protection. They will also discussthetechnology andmarkettrends relating to energy efficiency.

The CEOroundtablewilltake place from11:00 a.m. to12:00 noon onNovember11, 2008, thefirst day of theElectronica trade fair.Theroundtable will takeplace at theElectronica Forum in HallA2.

InfineonTechnologiesAG is now focused on three majormarketareas:communications,security and energy efficiency.PeterBauer,recently appointed CEOand a long-standing member oftheManagementBoard at Infineon,will explain how his company isusingtechnologyto help reducepower consumption andenvironmentalpollution.

Rich Beyer, who became Freescale Semiconductor CEO inMarch2008,willreport on his company's present and future planstoimproveenergyefficiency. Freescale recently attractedmediaattention foratwo-watt processor that is currently used in an"ecoPC."

National Semiconductor is keenly aware of climateprotectionandhasbeen involved in the field of energy-savingpowermanagementformany years. The company recently enteredthephotovoltaicmarketwith new technologies. CEO Brian L. Hallawillspeak abouthiscompany's successes and plans for the future. Hewillalsooffer hisassessment of future market developments.

STMicroelectronics is also dedicated toreducingenergyconsumptionand CO2 emissions. Thecompany'senergy-efficientcomponents rangefrom microcontrollers toMOSFETsand logic ICs.Carlo Bozotti, CEOof the semiconductor group,willdescribe whichecological trendswill affect future markets andwhatstrategiesSTMicroelectronicswill use to pursue them.

Finally, Dr. Ruediger Mueller, president and CEOofOsramOptoSemiconductors, will present his company'sinitiativestoachievehigher energy efficiency. OSRAM is thepioneerofThinfilmtechnology for InGaAlP (indiumgalliumaluminiumphosphide), InGaN(Indium Gallium Nitride) andGaAs(GalliumArsenide) and forhigh-performance LEDs in the visibleandinfraredspectrum. Theyare also a leader in manufacturingtechnologyandenergyconservation (by maximizing lightoutputperunitpower).
