BlackBerry Storm On The Horizon
The long fabled BlackBerry Storm, once called theBlackBerryThunder,isexpected to make landfall relatively soon andaleaked sheetof"talking points" on the Web indicates thatVerizonWireless willbethe first to offer BlackBerry-maker ResearchInMotion (RIM)Ltd.'sfirst ever touch screen device. Widely popular gadget blog The Boy Genius Report posted VerizonWireless' listoftalkingpoints.
Originally, Verizon was supposed to spill thebeansabouttheBlackBerry Storm on Monday, but so far there hasbeennoadditionalword on pricing or availability.
If the leaked sheet is legit, however, the Stormwillofferan"innovative 'click' touch screen for smooth,precisetextinput"that RIM says "feels like a keyboard." The specsheetalsoboaststhat the Storm features "RIM's highest resolutionscreen ever."
The Storm, the sheet indicates, willofferquad-bandconnectivityin more than 195 worldwide locations;fullHTML browsing; a 3.2 megapixel camerawithvideo;visualvoicemail; VZ Navigator capabilities;andintegrationwithBlackBerry's corporate business messagingplatforms.
Word of the BlackBerry Storm comes asBlackBerryandAT&Tsuffer continual delays getting theBlackBerryBold9000into the U.S. Already released in a hostofothercountries, theBold has become the be-all end-allformanyBlackBerry loyalists,earning positivereviewsthathave someboasting it's the best smart phone in BlackBerry's10-yearhistory.
Rumors of the BlackBerry Storm started earlier thisyearwithmanycalling it BlackBerry's official answertotheAppleiPhone and a potential iPhonekiller.BlackBerryhasremained tight-lipped. At one point, ablurry photo ofwhatwasbeingcalled the BlackBerry Thunder was leaked byacompanythat calleditself Horizon Wireless, but those imageswerequicklytaken down.
