3D TV shipments

DisplaySearch predicts that 3D TV will be ready to increasefrom 0.2 million units in 2009 to 64 million units in 2018.3D-ready TV will be the largest application in terms of revenue in2018 with US$17 billion.

DisplaySearch's latest 3D Display Technology and MarketForecast Report include that 3D display from the 40,000 pre-units(0.02% penetration rate )in 2009 to 10 million U.S.$(3.6%penetration rate) in 2018, the 3D notebook computers expected togrow from 66,000 units in 2009(0.04% penetration rate ) to 17.7million in 2018(3.

2% penetration ), cell phones will become the largest 3Ddisplay application on a unit shipment basis in 2018, with 71million units with 3D capability, the largest screen size categoryfor 3D display shipments will be 1-4.x-inch, due to demand frommobile phone and digital camera/camcorder applications. The secondlargest size range will be 40-49-inch, due to TV, public displayand 40+ monitor applications.

DisplaySearch expects there will be more than 7,000 new 3Dcinema screens installed in 2010 an additional 9,000 in2011.
