According to industry sources,due to demand caused by growing popularity of the tablet PCs andsmart mobile phones, Taiwan-based flexible PCB (FPCB) makers haveplans to ramp up their capacities in 2011.Tablet PC shipmentsworldwide expected 14 million units in 2010, expanded by 150% to 35million units in 2011. Currently, a tablet PC needs about 10 FPCBswith each priced at US$20, while a smartphone consumes about eightFPCBs with each priced at US$15. Tablet PC area is likely to be adriving force for growth of income of flexible printed circuitboard industry in 2011.
