The green PCs for Earth Day

As the first anniversary of Earth Day 40, PC maker Lenovo andHP have introduced energy-efficient laptop and desktop series, aimsto give a smaller carbon footprint.

Lenovo launched the L series, a new breed of ThinkPad laptops.L-series uses a lot of recycled materials in their construction andpackaging. Lenovo designed the products with business, governmentand education customers in mind, the company said.

According to Lenovo Group, the representative, ThinkPad's L412and L512 offer the Intel Core I3 and i5 processor choices; Intelintegrated or ATI's Mobility Radeon graphics; 3G or 4G wirelessconnectivity with Gobi 200 module support for AT&T, Sprint andVerizon; multi-touch touchpad; up to 8 hours of battery life, andthe Windows 7 operating system.

The L Series laptops use as much as 30 percent post-consumercontent from plastic bottles and used IT equipment for their LCDcovers, palm rests and cases. Each L Series notebooks save theequivalent of 10 plastic water bottles.
