GE has just announced that ithas been two separate lighting-centric business units. The newunit, called the GE lighting solutions, high-performance LEDtechnology ，developed by Lumination with the GE Lighting fixturebusiness as LEDs become mainstream in both commercial andresidential lighting applications.
GE Lighting's President and Chief Executive Officer MichaelPetras said, "This change reflects our strategy, as theindustry-leading solutions for the fast-growing field of indoor andoutdoor lighting, the use of LED lighting systems and otherenergy-saving technology provider . "
Lumination's current product line focused on signs,architectures, railway signals, traffic signals, and displaylighting - all of the light-emitting diodes. The unit alsomanufactures the Vio line of white LEDs that use 405-nm violetchips combined with phosphors to create warm white light The familyincludes 1, 4, and 7W models.
GE Lighting Systems sells a variety of lamps, ballasts, andfixtures into both the residential and commercial markets.
