Consumers can expect a rash ofprojector mobile phones by the end of the year, reports suggest, asmore and more manufacturers confirm their backing for thetechnology.
Samsung is already known to be planning a projector mobile phonein the form of the Samsung i7410 pico, which was unveiled to thepublic at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
According to a report from Taiwanese technology site DigiTimes,it now appears that rival devices are also in development fromNokia and Apple. The secret plans were disclosed to the newsprovider by an unnamed source said to be “close to the handsetmanufacturers”.
The source also claimed that the newmobiles will employ a specially developed pico projector fromFoxlink – a subsidiary of Foxconn, which is responsible forbuilding the Apple iPhone 3G S.
Pico technology allows phone owners to project movies onto flatsurfaces and promises to bring an end to the days of viewing movieson tiny mobile phone screens.
