Alcatel and HP to Form Global Alliance

HP and Alcatel-Lucent todayannounced they have signed a relationship agreement establishingboth parties' intent to form a 10-year global alliance to helpcustomers leverage the convergence of telecommunication andIT.

Once thedefinitive agreement has been executed, the companies will jointlymarket solutions and capabilities that enable end-to-endtransformation for service providers and enterprises.

The companies planto launch a global go-to-market program to transform communicationnetworks into converged, next-generation infrastructures. As aresult of this transformation, service providers will be able toefficiently deliver new, revenue-generating services. HP andAlcatel-Lucent also plan to offer services to manage the new andexisting infrastructures for customers looking for flexiblesourcing options.

HP andAlcatel-Lucent also plan to create a joint go-to-market initiativeto provide communications solutions to mid- and large-sizeenterprises and public sector organizations. Alcatel-Lucentproducts in areas such as IP telephony, unified communications,mobility, security and contact centers will be integrated with HPIT solutions. These joint solutions are planned to be offered toenterprises through HP resellers or as managedservices.

Furthermore, thealliance will create new end-to-end customer solutions that takeadvantage of both companies' product portfolios for the enterpriseand telecom markets.

With a bindingagreement, the go-to-market program will include all requiredinvestment and will be supported by dedicated business developmentand sales resources. Once implemented, the program could generatemulti-billion euros in net revenues for HP and Alcatel-Lucent overa 10-year period.

The companies alsoplan for HP to transform and manage a large part ofAlcatel-Lucent's IT infrastructure, taking advantage of HPtechnologies and experience in IT transformation. Alcatel-Lucentwill be able to accelerate the evolution of its operations towardthe highest standard of performance, quality, efficiency and costs.HP has been selected for its advanced data center technologies andits managed services leadership.
