According to a product listing that has recently surfaced onthe page of an European online retailer, Sony could update its VaioP line of ultraportable computer systems with the introduction ofnew configuration options that would include a yet unannouncedIntel Atom processor. Dubbed Atom Z630, the said chip is claimed tobe an upcoming dual-core version of Intel's current AtomZ530.
Rumors of an upcoming hardware refresh of Sony's Vaio Pultraportable laptop have been going on since earlier this year, with speculations that the system would be equipped with the 2.0GHzAtom Z550 processor, Intel has recently announced. However, up tothis moment the rumors haven’t been confirmed and the fastestprocessor available for the Vaio P laptop is the Z540, running at1.86GHz. On that note, it now seems that one of the upcomingchanges to Sony's line of Vaio P ultraportables is coming in theform of a new Atom Z630 processor.

The fellows over at Notebook Italia have noticed the productlisting of a Vaio P laptop that sports the Atom Z630 processor,128GB SSD, 2GB of memory and the integrated Intel GMA 500 chip.Although the listing is yet to be confirmed and may eventually bejust an error, it has enabled a number of speculations regardingthe release of an upcoming Atom processor and the future refresh ofSony's Vaio P laptop line. In relation to the listing, there arerumors pointing to a dual-core version of Intel's Z530, coming inthe form of the aforementioned Atom Z630.

Currently, Sony's Vaio P laptop is available in Europe withthe 1.6GHz Z530 Atom processor, but that could soon change if thelisting on the website turns out to be real. If that is the case,we are bound to see a performance increase for the Vaio P, whichcould also translate into an increase in price and powerconsumption.
