Excellon Automation is pleased toannounce the successful integration of the Excellon 129Intelli-Drill® with XACT PCB Software's Gemini-X Linear Plussoftware solution at Marcel Electronics Incorporated(MEI).
The Intelli-Drill® is a singlespindle driller with advanced registration capabilities for today'sdemanding PCBs that employs a sophisticated vision inspectionsystem to examine inner layers, modify drill files and providedetailed registration data. The XACT Gemini-X Linear plus softwareanalyses this data and builds a database of how the many differenttypes of materials react in specific fabrication processes. Thisallows for extremely accurate prediction of scaling factors withextremely high confidence.
By implementing this solution, MEIcan now inspect panels immediately following lamination to bestidentify stretch/shrink, shift and rotation for the entire lot, foreach panel and by individual layer. Corrective action is automatedand immediately implemented for the inspected panels. The collecteddata is then processed by the XACT software and used by front endengineering to better predict scale factors of future jobs withminimal engineering time. The result has been a significantimprovement in production yield and throughput while also allowingbetter application of process engineering time.
